The Seniors Presentation
night was held at the Pambula Merimbula Golf Club on Saturday
16 June. It was a great night with over 100 members in attendance.
Over 20 awards where handed out in recognition of the outstanding
achievements of the many members that gave their time during
the 2006-2007 patrol season.
All major club awards where recognised such as Life Saver of
the year which went to Tony Shaw. Other highlights included
Pam Hughes receiving the Club Spirit award for her role as Treasurer
and The Womens Boat Crew, who collectively took out the award
for Most outstanding carnival competitor. Once again everyone
was confused by the real meaning of the Ecclefechan award which
went to Jackie Keogh, apparently for moving towards the back
of the boat in big surf? A full list of the winners and photo
are listed below. Eleven other members where recoginised for
their hard work with Special Recognition Awards.
A number of the clubs major sponsors where also recoginised
for their contribution to the club including Merimbula RSL,
Kellow and Parbry, Carbon Copy, Merimbula News Weekly, The Royal
Willows Hotel, 2EC Radio, Tennix, McDonalds, Merimbula Ice Creamery,
The Masons, South Coast Retail and Pambula Merimbula Golf Club.
Thanks to all of our sponsors who attended.
The night wrapped up after yet another appearance from Clowns
Incorporated. There stunning presentation of a special ballet
(pronounced Bal-ET) performance, included appearances from a
number of Fairies including the email fairy, the Surfguard fairy
and the Training and Assessing Fairy. It was a sad and emotional
story with these poor fairies overcome by the amount of work
imposed on them by the Big Bad State Centre. One of them collapsed
under the pressure and could only be revived by a couple of
cans of "Ye Tooheys Old." Thankfully for all of those
involved they managed to raise Jim from the dead.
Thanks to all those involved making it such a great night.
