Pambula Nippers Carnival 2008

On Sunday we wished the carnival was on Saturday, but on Monday we were glad it was on Sunday. Despite the heavy, churning seas, the Pambula Surf Life Saving Club Nippers turned on a great carnival on Sunday for the second in this season’s series. Branch officials deemed the conditions challenging, which proved to be so as the day progressed.

In one of the miracles of our age, the carnival got away on time with a great March Past display and never faltered through to the final flag event. A lot of credit must go to the Area Referees for their display of common sense and innovation in keeping up the carnival’s continuity. Congratulations to our water safety personnel, who turned up in their numbers, and were described by the senior Area Referee as the best ever. Renee and Kim did a marvellous job with the organisation of the day, with assistance from all quarters. A terrific number of nippers came from as far away as Batemans Bay and Jindabyne for a day of great competition. The Pambula Nippers came in second on the day to the strong Broulee club. The PSLSC Nippers and FSC Branch committees would like to thank everyone for their contribution to a great day. All carnival ribbons should be given out at Nippers on this coming Sunday. The next Junior Carnival is at Tathra on 17 February. The team event will be the Board Rescue. Nippers’ activities will continue this Sunday from 9:15 am.
