Pambula Surf Life Saving Club
Members of the Pambula Surf Life Saving Club have been deeply involved in elections of every type over the past couple of weeks. Last Tuesday, 24 August, the PSLSC held its Annual General meeting at the Pambula Beach clubhouse. The meeting was well attended and most positions were filled on the night. The Management Committee elected for the 2010-2011 season are: President-Frank Davey; Vice President-Andrew Holt; Secretary-Stuart Manson; Treasurer-Pam Hughes; Club Captain- Megan Quarmby; Vice Club Captain-Ken Carman; Chief Training Officer-Michele Bootes; Surf Boat Captain –TBC; Vice Surf Boat Captain- Steve Hodgson; Power Craft Captain- Don Hay; Radio Officer TBC; Gear Steward- Les Dirou; Publicity/Promotions-Don Hay/Frank Davey; First Aid Officer-Mief Krechting; Junior Activities Chairman-Steve Skeers; House Committee Chairman-Peter Terry; Competition and Training Coordinator- Dave Prowse; Web Master- Nigel Ayling; Registrar-Tracey Hughes- Butters/Tracey Fergusson. Committee Members-Tess Williams, Kym O’Halloran, Sandy Farrell and Margie Doyle. President, Frank Davey, thanked all committee members for their efforts during the past season and congratulated the new committee members on their election for this season.
Hot on the heels of the PSLSC AGM was the Far South Coast SLSA Annual General Meeting at the Narooma SLSC on Sunday, 29 August. This meeting, too, was well attended and all positions were filled. The FSC Management Committee for the 2010-2011 season are : President- Tony Rettke (Tathra); Deputy President: Jim McGrath (Pambula); Minute Secretary: Gordon Harris (Broulee); Finance Director: Pam Hughes (Pambula); Director of Administration: Kerry Parbery (Tathra); Director of Lifesaving: Mark McLeay (Broulee); Assistant DOL: Andrew Edmunds (Broulee);
Director of Education: Michele Bootes (Pambula); Assistant DOE:TBC; Power Craft Adviser : Tony Rettke (Tathra) ; Radio/ Communication Officer : Jim McGrath (Pambula); Director of Member Services: John Edmunds (Broulee); Director of Surf Sports: David Law (Broulee); Assistant DOSS. Judy Retke (Tathra); Director of the Board of Youth Development: Frank Davey (Pambula); Media/ Publicity Donald Hay (Pambula). Following the election of office bearers, Julie Frost, from the Narooma SLSC, was presented with her Life Membership. Julie was Chairperson and Secretary of the Board of Youth Development in the FSC Branch for many years. Julie has coached the Interbranch teams, is an official at the Branch carnivals and is a Trainer and Assessor at both Club and Branch level.
Tony Rettke advised that he is conducting an IRB Driver and Crew course at the Narooma SLSC this Saturday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. All documentation is to be completed prior to Saturday, either privately or at Narooma on Friday evening. Please contact Michele Bootes for further information on the paperwork. All prospective drivers or crew, or those currently undergoing IRB Driving or Crew training, are encouraged to attend this course.
The PSLSC hosted a Pasta and Musical Evening at the clubhouse on last Friday evening. A large and appreciative gathering, who tucked into a well presented pasta dinner, were treated to a wide variety of music performed by a number of very talented musicians from Lumen Christi Catholic College, and members of the PSLSC new committee were on hand to meet and greet. Thanks and congratulations to Megan, Pam, Margie and Tracey and their assistants for producing such a great evening.
Pambula SLSC, on 12 September, will host a one day pre season training day for all trainers, assessors, club presidents and captains and anyone who is interested in training. Michele is currently working on the agenda. Those attending please email Michele at
